DC Aviation Al-Futtaim cashes in on its purpose-built facility at Dubai World Central

Dubai International Airport’s runway closure catalyst for Business aviation growth at Al Maktoum International Airport.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, March 16, 2014: The imminent closure of Dubai International Airport’s runways for refurbishment on May 1st for a period of 80 days has already seen a shift in a number of business aviation players to Al Maktoum International Airport (AMIA) in a trend which is expected to intensify according to Holger Ostheimer, General Manager, DC Aviation Al-Futtaim.
DC Aviation Al-Futtaim’s (DCAF) 6,500 square metre purpose-built integrated hangar facility has already welcomed numerous business jet operators ahead of the runway closure.

Holger Ostheimer said: “DWC will play a significant role in absorbing redirected flights during the closure of the two runways at Dubai International. We have already seen a number of business aviation operators move their operations to AMIA and we expect this to trend to continue in the months to come especially with the restrictions on business and private aircraft operations during the closure.

“As the only integrated business aviation facility at DWC, the hangar has only a few remaining hangarization spaces left for business jet operators looking to base their assets at DWC. Our facility offers the shortest distance from drop-off to aircraft steps, 24/7 on-site immigration, customs, security facilities and minimal taxiing all of which contribute to providing the ultimate convenience and privacy to our VIP guests.”

The state-of-the-art DCAF hangar has enough space to accommodate four ACJ or BBJ type aircraft of the heavy business jet category as well as two ultra-long range business jets such as the Falcon 7X, Bombardier Global Express, or Gulfstream G550.

The 1,300 square meters of exclusive lounge area is designed to host local, regional and international VVIP customers and offers the highest levels of comfort and privacy, shower areas, a conference room, covered parking and an exclusive contemporary finish. Customers will benefit from a dedicated ramp parking area spanning over 7,700 square metres, on-site security processing facilities and minimal distance between drop-off and the aircraft steps.

At its facility in DWC, DCAF offers aircraft management, VIP aircraft and passenger handling, maintenance as well as business jet charter.

Under its Aircraft Management division, DC Aviation is helping business jet owners to optimize their aircraft assets, by operating aircraft in an environment in line with the highest industry standards of flight safety and airworthiness, in line with the standards applied at its German Headquarter, where DC Aviation is currently revalidating its IATA auditing certificate, which makes it one of only eight business jet operators worldwide to holding an IOSA certificate. At the same time clients will benefit from significant cost saving potential on insurance, fuel purchasing and other relevant flight support services.

Through DC Aviation’s line maintenance capabilities, catering to different executive jet types, aircraft owners and operators will receive a diverse range of maintenance support, from spare parts supply, procurement and storage, to maintenance and airworthiness certification.

DCAF’s business jet charter clients will benefit from the operator’s fleet size and variety ranging from efficiently sized Learjet 40 to the 46-seater Airbus 319 Corporate jet and a 24/7 operation designed to provide immediate response to requests.

DCAF is a joint venture between Dubai-headquartered Al-Futtaim and Germany’s DC Aviation, one of the leading European business jet operators. For more information on DCAF’s hangar and services, please visit www.dc-aviation.ae or call +971 4 870 1880.
